College Coaches Skills Camp events will feature two sessions, Morning and Afternoon. This gives players the opportunity pick the session that best fits their schedule. All college coaches will attend each session. The Morning Session will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Afternoon Session will run from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

You will notice that the last hour of the Morning Session overlaps with the first hour of the Afternoon Session. That is because from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM we will have a Discussion on College Athletics. Many parents and players consider this segment alone to be worth the price of admission. This discussion gives the college coaches an opportunity to talk with prospects and their families about college athletics. Topics like, NCAA rules, the NCAA Eligibility Center, the importance of grades and what coaches look for will be covered. After the discussion, the Morning Session will be dismissed and the Afternoon Session will begin volleyball activities.

ALL PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE

  • Instruction from all coaches attending the event.
  • Opportunities to ask questions and get to know the college coaches.
  • One-on-one and small group instruction.
  • An open discussion about the NCAA rules, and regulations (parents are encouraged to either stay or come back for this segment. Questions are encouraged as to help answer questions and bust myths about college athletics).
  • All campers will receive a Division I quality, moisture wicking men's t-shirt at check-in to wear during camp and take home.

EVENTS WILL NOT EXCEED AN 8:1 COACH-TO-PLAYER RATIO

Each segment of camp will consist of player evaluation and skill training on serving, setting, blocking, hitting and defending. Players will be taken through a series of drills to work on all of these various skills. There will be a position based skills session as well. Players will have the opportunity to work with college coaches in their specific position.

It is very important to know that each session has a limited enrollment. We aim for a player-to-coach ratio of 6:1 but will not exceed 8:1. This ensures that the coaches can spend quality time with all players attending and are not overwhelmed with large camp numbers. This also ensures that prospects will have time to interact with the coaches and learn from them in a small group and one-on-one setting.

THE COLLEGE COACHES AT THE EVENTS ARE ON THE COURT ALL DAY.
JUST LIKE THEY ARE FOR THEIR OWN PRACTICES AND GAMES.

Each player will receive verbal feedback from the different levels of college volleyball represented at the camp. Coaches will evaluate each player based on their experiences at their level of college volleyball and give feedback when appropriate. This will allow each participating volleyball player the opportunity to get a much clearer idea of where their skills may fit at the college level. Because we want full interaction between coaches and players we do not provide written evaluations. We ask our staff to be fully engaged in the teaching process and not be lost in a form. For this reason, we highly encourage players to ask questions of the staff and obtain any and all information they would like to know. Each Regional can differ slightly when it comes to the feedback given but generally speaking, players will be evaluated and instructed in all areas of the game.

WHY IS IT A CAMP AND A SHOWCASE?
Well, because it's the best of both worlds. Players want to showcase their skills to coaches but they should also want to learn from the coaches. Coaches want to evaluate players and their skills so they can teach them appropriately, just like they do with their own players. Coaches also want to see how players react to new instruction, new techniques and how they socialize with peers and other coaches. Our goal is to have a player-to-coach ratio of 6:1 but it will not exceed 8:1.

DISCUSSION ON COLLEGE ATHLETICS
This is an open discussion between the college coaches, the players, and the family of the players. There are many myths and misunderstandings about participating in college athletics. This discussion is a chance to ask questions and get informed about some of the rules and regulations of college athletics. Topics like, NCAA rules, the NCAA Eligibility Center, the importance of grades and what coaches look for will be covered.
